Your First Class

How great that you're coming to train with us!
Your first karate class can be a bit exciting. You might wonder what you'll be doing, what to bring, and how everything works. Don't worry too much about your first class. It's normal that you don't understand or can do everything at first. We'll help you! Just try to follow what the other karatekas do. It might be difficult at first, but before you know it, you'll be joining in!
We recommend arriving about 5 to 10 minutes before class starts. This way you can meet the teachers and ask any questions before class begins. At the end of class, you can also get information. If you enjoyed the class, we'll give you the registration forms. You can bring these with you to your next class.

Clothing

During karate classes, teachers and students wear a Kyokushin karate gi. "Gi" is the Japanese term for a karate suit. If you're coming for a trial class, you might not be sure yet if you want to train karate. So of course you don't need to buy a gi before you actually start karate. You can simply wear sportswear during your first classes. Make sure you wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. If you happen to have an old karate or judo suit, you can of course wear that during your first classes.
When you decide to register with us, you can purchase a karate gi through us. This includes the logos you need to wear on your left and right shoulder. It's also possible to buy a gi yourself. Make sure it's a Kyokushin gi. You can recognize it by the Kyokushin kanji on the left chest (see beside). You will still need to purchase the shoulder logos through us. Two logos cost € 7.50 together.
Registration

Great that you enjoyed your trial class and want to become a member! At the end of class, we'll give you some forms. On these forms you note the details of the member to be registered and your bank details. The membership fee is debited from your account monthly via direct debit. When you become a member, we charge a one-time registration fee of € 12.50. This fee is debited together with your first monthly contribution via direct debit.
Youth Fund Sports & Culture

In the Netherlands, on average 2 to 3 children per class grow up in a family with financial difficulties. Every child deserves to participate, which is why we work with the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture. They pay the membership fee for families with financial difficulties, so children can still participate in sports. Unfortunately, we cannot arrange this directly for you. You will need to contact an intermediary yourself. More information can be found here.
